St Wilfrid's Drop in Centre

Skills Workshop - making bird boxes

St Wilfrid's Drop in Centre www.stwilfridscentre.org in Sheffield was visited on 8 May 2009 following a sliding scale grant awarded over three years in 2008 for Welfare and Development.

The centre provides the vulnerable and isolated support and a sense of belonging as well as education e.g. adult literacy, and skilled based workshops to enable some clients to go on to paid employment.

St Wilfrid's were putting the Trust's grant to the appropriate use.

Bucks Association for the Care of Offenders

Bucks Association for the Care of Offenders (BACO) www.baco.org.uk is a registered charity founded in 1972. The Triangle Trust 1949 Fund has been supporting BACO since 2004. BACO aims to help offenders in the Bucks area to break their cycle of criminal behaviour and integrate back into society.


In September 2009 BACO were recognised for their excellent work and awarded the Queen’s award for Voluntary services. The presentation was attended by Lesley the Trust Secretary and held at Grendon Prison - Bucks.  During the presentation a number of inmates gave thanks to Gill, Roger and team and afterwards Lesley met several who had benefitted from BACO's dedication and support.

PARCA


Unity Hall - Peterborough


PARCA www.poor-refugee.org was set up by Refugees and Asylum Seekers who because of different cultural backgrounds and language barriers found it difficult to integrate into British society. PARCA provides advice and support to improve health, education, integration and community cohesion to overcome these barriers.


Lesley visited their celebration event at Unity Hall - Peterborough in April 2009 and witnessed the dedication and enthusiasm of their Project Coordinator Moez in the traditional attire on the left.

Reach Out Projects

Volunteer Crew awaiting instructions

Reach Out Projects http://www.reachoutprojects.org.uk is a charity who seeks to support people – especially young people and those with disabilities – to overcome exclusion and discrimination, develop their skills, broaden their experience and achieve their  potential.

A visit took place during a Volunteer Training (Crew Familiarisation) Day on their barge in order to see the work of the Volunteer Co-ordinator funded by the Trust.

They were awarded a further grant in December 2009 for a Waters-way Manager.

St Vincent’s Furniture Store

St Vincent’s Furniture Store www.svpfurniturestoresheffield.org.uk

Lesley visited this Charity last year meeting the office staff, drivers and witnessing first hand the furniture and household goods delivery and collection process.

One office manager and 3 volunteers co-ordinate the collections and deliveries by five drivers.

The Trust provides funding for one of these essential drivers. Lesley was able to see the driver was a necessary addition to ensure the smooth running of an essential service.

SVFS has helped over 20
00 clients in Sheffield area during 2009/10 by providing furniture for those suffering hardship through domestic abuse, long term sickness, release from hospital or prison etc.

SVFS has had to move to bigger premises where they can store all the furniture they received on one site making distribution management easier.
